US acts against JCPOA: Rezaei

TEHRAN, Apr. 09 (MNA) – Maj. Gen. Mohsen Rezaei has emphasized that Americans are undertaking certain measures which are contrary to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Speaking at the commemorative ceremony for Lieutenant General Ali Sayyad Shirazi on Saturday morning in Tehran, Secretary of Expediency Council and former IRGC general Major General Mohsen Rezaei appreciated the efforts and key role of martyr Shirazi in the course on Islamic revolution and during the eight years of defense against Iraqi invasion under former dictator Saddam Hussein adding “Iran’s armed forces would never allow anyone to threaten the country.”

“We have gained precious experiences as a result of the Imposed War as our armed forces have prepared and constructed the required equipment and missiles,” he continued.

Rezaei emphasized that we cannot put aside our war experiences reiterating “armed forces have always backed the government as they have always assisted the governments in areas of reconstruction, economics as well as natural disasters.”

The official emphasized that the guidelines of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution has offered armed forces their appropriate position alleviating the shortcomings while neighboring countries enjoy huge military budgets.

Expediency Council secretary stressed that Iran would not seek adventures in the region though we will not practice conservatism; “we are revolutionaries indicating that we would never initiate war as the Islamic Republic of Iran has never launched wars against Israel, Saudi Arabia or Iraq under its former dictator though they have all been transgressors.”

He went on to highlight that “we are also obliged to cooperate with Islamic countries which are suffering from intruders.”

“Following the JCPOA-implementation, some claimed that Iran’s missile program is negotiable to the extent that certain Western countries have threatened to impose sanctions against the country if we don’t talk the issue out,” maintained Rezaei.

Maj. Gen. Mohsen Rezaei deemed Iranian missiles as a deterrent power noting “the capability would prevent numerous wars as it prevented the intrusion of the US to the country at the time of George Bush.”

Former IRGC commander evaluated US as one of the world’s most incompetent powers; “Americans are not qualified to negotiate security issues of the world since they hold a dark background in Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Yemen and Bahrain where they brought about insecurity.

Underlining that Americans lack a focal point for security, Rezaei asserted “neither Iranian missiles are negotiable nor do Americans possess the authority to hold talks on the issue.”

The official advised Islamic states not to trust US officials since they are disloyal; “today, Americans are taking steps which are contrary to the JCPOA while US Secretary of State John Kerry has called for negotiations on Iran’s missile program.”

“Iran’s armed forces support the three government branches,” said Maj. Gen. Mohsen Rezaei concluding “we have refused to advertise our missile exercises for nearly two years in order to help the government advance nuclear talks.”
